The GBA warmly welcomes Scott Walter to the GBA Secretariat in the newly created position of Deputy Chair.

Scott Walter has been Executive Director of CODE since 2007. CODE is a registered Canadian charity founded over 60 years ago to fight global poverty by helping children gain the quality education that they deserve.

His specific work with book publishing in Africa makes him an asset, and the GBA looks forward to a productive collaboration. Scott’s work with GBA will center around providing strategic and technical guidance to the GBA’s efforts to ensure every child has books.

Prior to his work with CODE, Scott worked with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), where, as Principal Advisor Education in Policy Branch, he provided leadership to the Government of Canada on education issues including Canada’s involvement at the multilateral level in the global Education for All-Fast Track Initiative and the Canadian Global Campaign for Education.

He also carries extensive prior experience with international literacy development programs, public/private publishing partnerships.

As the first term of GBA’s Chair comes to an end, the GBA also seeks a new Chair, beginning in January 2021. If you are interested in leading a partnership of donor agencies, multilateral institutions, and civil society organizations that are committed to bringing books to every child in the world by 2030, please apply. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
